In science yesterday we made paper airplanes and helicopters. We tested each of them out and experimented with different styles to see what would fly best.
This activity is excellent for teaching as it can connect to many sections of the curriculum. It connects to science in terms of the physics of how the planes fly. It connects to math in terms of measuring, and you could even expand to talking about the parabola the planes make (in higher grades). It connects to art as students could decorate their aircraft. It can connect to history by talking about how airplanes and helicopters were invented.
